NPI is information about you that we obtain in connection with providing a financial product or service which is not available to the public. For example, nonpublic personal information includes information regarding your account balance, payment history, and delinquency history. Western States does not disclose NPI to affiliates other than those permitted by law.
Information We Disclose
We are permitted under law to share information about our experiences or transactions with you or your account (such as your account balance and your payment history with us) with companies related to us by common control or ownership ("affiliates").
In addition, we may disclose the following information to companies that perform marketing services solely on our behalf:
- Information we receive from you on applications or other forms, such as your name, address, telephone number, social security number, and e-mail address
- Information about transactions with us, our affiliates, or others, such as your account balance and payment history
- Information we receive from consumer reporting agencies, such as your payment history
We are also permitted under law to disclose nonpublic personal information about you to "nonaffiliated third parties" (i.e., third parties that are not members of our corporate family) in certain circumstances. For example, we may disclose nonpublic personal information about you to such third parties to assist us in servicing, guaranteeing, and disbursing your loan or account with us; to government entities in response to subpoenas; and to consumer reporting agencies.
Western States is sensitive to your concerns for protecting the confidentiality of the information we hold. We respect your right to privacy. If you decide to use another student loan entity or become an inactive customer, we will continue to adhere to the privacy policies and practices described in this notice.

We also take steps to safeguard customer information. We restrict access to your personal and account information to those employees who need to know that information to provide products or services to you. We maintain physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards that comply with federal standards to guard your nonpublic personal information.
Cookies
Western States may use "cookie" technology to obtain non-personal information from online visitors. The cookie tracks the total number of visitors to our site in an aggregate form and allows us to update and improve our site. We don't extract personal information in this process nor do we provide this information to third parties. We also do not contact you without your permission.
E-Mail Communications and Web Forms
If you send us an electronic mail message with a question or comment that contains personally identifying information, or fill out a form that e-mails us information, we will only use this personally identifying information to respond to your request. We may redirect your message to another person who is in a better position to answer your question.
